Snow 2010

These past 3 days have been amazing. Work was cancelled Thursday morning, so I ran around town all day running errands taking advantage of no crowds due to everyone else preparing for the end of the world. Friday, it snowed all day! Tons of snow for Oklahoma!! We went sledding with some friends, ate potato soup, watched a movie and were in bed by 9:30. Today we hot tubbed and went and fed the cows. I love the snow. I love how it makes things so quiet and everything seems clean and fresh. I love the feeling of cold. The summers in Oklahoma are brutal due to heat, bugs, snakes, etc. So when the snow is covering the sandburs and there's no chance of dying from a copperhead bite, I like to take advantage of it.

Stylish clearing the tub

If Cash is awake this is what he is doing. Seriously, the guy has got some serious energy and passion for life.

Pregnant (or at least we hope) Momma glad to get some hay.

This is my favorite spot.

Branding without the brand

We had our first Rasp branding this previous summer. Why am I posting something from last year? Because it was hilarious!! It was 104 degrees, I was helping Josh flank, my Dad was having to yell directions at us while he was roping and dragging the cattle in, and Josh got flung around the pen like a rag doll. We are calling this our first branding, but should be referring to it as our first "doctoring." We didn't have our brand yet, so we were just giving vaccinations. Hopefully I gave them the correct dosage in the correct spot. I guess we'll find out later if they get sick or have any diseases. Yikes! Patty was lucky enough to be our photographer. Here are some pictures in random order.

Josh - Relaxing after getting thrown around
This is not what this typically looks like. This picture doesn't do the chaos justice.

Running around to give vaccines. Josh is lucky he didn't accidentally get vaccinated that day.

Setting up the pens.

Dad got to ride Colonel to drag.
Patty and Josh made a great team!!

This Momma was not happy about what was happening to her baby. She was getting a little too close for my comfort.

Pretty sure Josh will get someone else to help him flank next year.

Preparing the shots.
Can't wait for the excitement this year. If you're interested in seeing something that resembles a rodeo/circus/family reunion, give us a call.
Thank you Dad for all your help. We all know this dream of ours wouldn't be happening without you. Not to mention, thanks for the bulls, horses, and panels. You are awesome!!!

2009

2009 RECAP
  • January - Started our "ranching" experience with 5 registered Hereford bulls. I started training for half marathon.
  • February - Tahoe for the IECA conference. First time we've skiied in waste deep powder. Amazing! Decided to rip out old stair case and build a new one.
  • March - BELIZE!!!
  • April - Hosted a baby shower at our house while in the middle of a remodel, not smart on my part. Went to Montana for Brooke's baby shower. Didn't run in half marathon, because of a knee injury.
  • May - Remodel still going on, Matine John Howell is born!!
  • June - Grady Wayne McCaslin is born!! Montana trip to meet Matine. I started a full time job. Expanded our cattle dream with 12 pair and 2 heifers.
  • July - Helped run 4th of July golf tournament for JDRF. Added two more members to our family, Colonel and Buttermilk. We had our very first branding!!! My sister and her family moved to Idaho.
  • August - Desmond Mark Schatzel is born!! Hosted sip and see for the new guy.
  • September - Labor Day trip to Denver with Amy and Halee. Josh was so lucky and got to go work for Willow Ranch Outfitters as a camp cook. Colonel got VERY sick, and I spent the entire month doctoring and taking care of him.
  • October - Josh made it home and life was normal again.
  • November - Remodel is getting closer and closer to being completed. Incorporated Rasp Cattle Company, LLC and registered our brand.
  • December - Panhandle for Christmas and Colorado to ring in the New Year!!

Here are some pictures from the year in complete random order.

Here I go...

I'm dedicating this new blog to my best friend Brooke, and to my husband, Josh. Brooke, I would die if you didn't have your blog for me to keep up with your everyday life, so as a good friend I feel like I should do the same for you. Josh, hopefully this will help subside my crazy talkative moments and random thoughts. I love you both so much! Enjoy!!
